Can a silage cover be repaired if damaged?

Silage covers designed for multiple seasons of use can be repaired, although the technique may vary according to the material. Small punctures or tears are usually fairly easy to repair using special tapes or patches, while large holes require a slightly more involved process. If your cover is an overlapping series of panels, it may be preferable to simply replace the damaged panel, while a single piece cover will nearly always be better to patch.

When you're considering a repair on a silage cover, consider the age of the cover compared to its expected lifespan. An aging cover is likely to continue to degrade and replacement may be the better option. If the damage was caused by an identifiable incident that can be avoided in the future, repair is a good option. If the damage was due to cumulative wear over time but the liner is still within the expected lifespan, you may want to consider replacing it altogether with a more durable, reinforced material. Excessive UV damage also indicates a need for a higher quality product.
