Landscape fabric is an excellent option to install under pavers and patios, where it improves stability and limits weed growth. When placed over the compacted soil subgrade, it keeps the paver base material (like sand or gravel) from mixing into the soil below. This separation stabilizes the base, which helps prevent the pavers from settling unevenly or shifting over time.
For heavy-duty applications like these it is best to use professional-grade, reinforced or non-woven geotextile fabrics, which are much stronger and more resistant to tearing than standard, lightweight weed barriers.
