Pond liners can handle drought conditions, but their effectiveness largely depends on the material and installation. As water drops, more of the liner is exposed to direct sunlight, which can cause degradation in many liner materials.
To mitigate this kind of damage, it’s essential to monitor water levels and replenish them if that's an option. If refilling the pond isn't an option, consider installing shades, sails, or netting to reduce UV exposure. If your pond has fish, pond dyes can help reduce evaporation and maintain a more stable water temperature. A well established ecosystem with native plants around the pond can also improve water retention by keeping it shaded and cooled.
