Do aeroponics systems need to be cleaned regularly

As in all environmentally controlled agriculture systems, a certain amount of maintenance is necessary, but the overall degree of maintenance is less in aeroponics systems. Since aeroponics doesn't use growth media, there's no need to disinfect or dispose of media between crop cycles. Since nutrient solution is applied so precisely, there is virtually no excess, so no disinfectant protocols (and associated maintenance) are required.

Neverthe less, there is always something that needs to be done. If you're using a high pressure system, it's important to check daily that nozzles are not clogged and each are performing properly. Keep your growing environment free of organic waste like leaves, stems and roots to avoid attracting bugs and airborne pathogens. At the end of each crop cycle, empty and scrub out your nutrient reservoir, disinfecting it with a hydrogen peroxide solution or a brand name cleaning solution. Run the disinfecting solution through your system to ensure the hoses, pipes and nozzles are clean as well. Naturally, you'll want to check your mechanical equipment like pumps, LED lights, and timers on a periodic basis to ensure they're functioning well.
