Algae blooms, or massive amounts of algae, are not found in natural pools unless there is something wrong with the regeneration zone. Some amounts are to be expected, and can be removed with skimmers or vacuums when necessary. If too much algae is present, it may mean your regeneration zone is having trouble processing the nutrients within your water.
To avoid algae blooms, never add fertilizer or plant food to your natural swimming pool. High nutrient levels can destroy the balance that your regeneration zone has managed to establish.
