Yes, custom-fabricated liners are made to fit the layout and contours of your pond, so they require less cutting and less seaming than a flat square sheet. Few ponds will exactly fit a 20 x 30 sheet of off-the-shelf liner, so you'll be forced to shift and adjust that liner over shelves, a contoured bottom, and into the anchor trench to get it "as close as possible." Then you'll be faced with large, unsightly wrinkles and may have to weld or tape up a few seams to get the fit just right.
