Commercial greenhouses can range from small, attached hoop-houses to thousands of square-feet, industrial nurseries.Most commercial greenhouses are especially large, built out of wood or steel and covered in polyethylene or other light diffusing material. Oftentimes, commercial greenhouses will involve complex, automated irrigation systems and monitoring implements. This can involve monitoring and running temperature, soil moisture, CO2 enrichment, fertilizer and irrigation mixing, water recirculation, and grow lights.
Other kinds of commercial greenhouses can be fairly small, and run manually by one or two people. The only defining aspect of a commercial greenhouse is that it is growing specifically for a market, rather than for home-purposes.
