How do I choose the right size of silage cover for my silo?

Start by measuring the crosswise profile of your silage between the bunker walls, and the lengthwise profile profile, from bunker wall to the bottom of the pile. Add 2-3 feet to the lengthwise measurement to allow for anchoring or for measurement errors. If you're ordering a single panel, provide those measurements to your supplier to choose the best size, whether custom or pre-cut.

If you're piecing together your cover using panels, be sure to deploy them across the width of your bunker to simplify the process of feeding out. Allow for an overlap of 2-3 feet between panels. Calculate the number of panels required by adding the amount of overlap to the width of the panels and dividing the total by the length of the bunker. Round your result to the next highest whole number to determine how many panels you'll need to cut and order accordingly.
