Natural swimming pools rely on biological forms of filtration and disinfection, rather than chlorine or other harmful chemicals. An ecosystem of beneficial plants, bacteria, and small aquatic life is planted in a nearby "regeneration zone," which all the pool water flows through. The regeneration zone is able to asborb nutrients and waste found in the swimming water, and naturally filter it to be clean again. Disinfection comes in the way of plants natural systems, rather than using harsh chemicals.
Water must be constantly circulating in a natural swimming pool. This prevents algae or pests from taking hold, and means that the water found in the pool is always freshly filtered.
