Handling drainage or leakage under a canal liner can be addressed with proper preparation and design. A drainage layer, such as gravel or a geotextile fabric, is often installed beneath the liner to direct any seepage away from the canal. Drainage pipes or channels may also be integrated into the design to carry water away and reduce hydrostatic pressure under the liner.
In cases where leakage is detected after installation, repairs are made by identifying and sealing the damaged area using patches, welding, or other appropriate methods. Proper edge anchoring and sealing during installation minimize the risk of water seeping beneath the liner.
