How do you install a geomembrane?

Some heavier geomembranes will require professional equipment in order to properly install the liner. This is true in the case of some RPE's, which are heat-welded, and require machinery to move the massive rolls of material. Other liners are DIY-friendly, and can be manufactured into any array of shapes that best fits your backyard pond. Smaller geomembrane liners are installed with adhesive tape in order to connect and seal the seams.

It's essential to reduce the risk of damage when installing your own geomembrane liner. Remove any debris or rocks from your desired site, and fill any holes that may increase pressure on your liner. Don't drag the material along dirt or pavement while transporting it. It may be a good idea to use a tarp or plastic sheet to slide the liner over any rough terrain that may be inbetween you and the pond.
