Make sure your plants are happy and thriving, and that any debris or waste is removed from the pool to keep the water clean. Your regeneration zone should receive plenty of light, and not be located downhill where other bodies of water or run-off can drain into it. The chemicals found in run-off may be seriously detrimental to the plants in your regeneration zone.
Never add fertilizer or plant food to your regeneration zone. This will overwhelm your plants, and can cause algae blooms to take hold.
