How do you prevent root rot in aeroponics?

One of the common causes of root rot is inadequate exposure to oxygen. Fortunately, aeroponics has a great advantage in preventing root rot, in that the entire system is focused on maximizing oxygen exposure. Make sure that your misting schedule allows roots time when they're not covered with water so they can absorb oxygen, but don't allow them to dry out. A high humidity environment will help with that.

Another strength of aeroponics is the isolation of root bundles and the fact that nutrient water does pass from one plant to the next. This prevents fungus and bacteria from moving between plants. If you encounter occasional instances of root rot, remove the affected plant immediately, transfer your growing tray to a clean reservoir, and sanitize the reservoir and misting nozzles thoroughly using a solution of hydrogen peroxide or bleach.
