HDPE is incredibly long-lasting, and can take up to hundreds of years to completely degrade. HDPE plastic is essentially impervious to most forms of chemicals, solvents, acids, cleaning fluids, or other corrosive substances, making it much more resistant to wear and tear while containing liquids. Its flexibility means that installation is less likely to result in rips or tears, and it can be cut during installation to fit any particular shape for a specific body of water.
HDPE is sensitive to stress cracking, which is caused by low levels ofpressure applied over long periods of time. Punctures are also particularly damaging to HDPE, so it's essential to remove roots, branches, or other pokey debris before installation.
