How long does the pump run in aeroponics?

Misting schedules in high pressure aeroponics can vary significantly, depending not only the needs of your plants, but their size and growth stage, and the temperature around the root zone. Some schedules will mist for fewer than 5 seconds out of every 5 minutes, while other growers prefer to mist for 60 seconds out of every 5. For reference, that can be as little as 2% or as much as 20% of the time.

The best misting schedule for your setup is best determined by experimentation and should be expected to change over time, and low pressure systems will need to run both longer and more frequently. Compare these numbers, however, to traditional hydroponics pumps, which have to operate 100% of the time.
