According to NASA, plants in aeroponics systems grow as much as 300% faster than their soil-grown counterparts, and their yields are more consistent. Hydroponics systems, in comparison, only grow about 30% to 50% faster than in soil.
The advantage in growth and yields that aeroponics systems produce is due primarily to the fact that plants are grown in air rather than in water or soil. Plants need plenty of oxygen in order to absorb and "digest" nutrients, and only aeroponics offers plants virtually unlimited exposure to oxygen. This produces an ideal environment that maximizes a plant's ability to grow and produce.
