Optimal oxygen levels will vary on your water quality and number of fish, but most fish are happy in an environment with oxygen levels of 6 to 9 ppm. Oxygen levels can be adjusted through water changes, bubblers, mixers, or other kinds of aerators.
High levels of algae or too much waste will start to reduce the amount of dissolved oxygen within your nursery pond, which can suffocate fish or make them sick. To maintain adequate levels of oxygen, water should be changed frequently, waste and excess food should be removed, and aerators may need to be installed.
