Different thicknesses of geomembrane can be used in different applications, with 60 mils defining the industry standard. BTL's range of durable geomembranes range anywhere between 20 and 60 mil. While thickness does reinforce a material, it is not the only deciding factor when it comes to a geomembrane's effectiveness. Woven or reinforced fibers and polymers are able to maintain their strength without sacrificing their durablity or size.
In industries where the membrane will be coming into contact with abrasive materials or chemicals may need additional reinforcement that adds to its size.
