Is A 45-Mil Liner Inherently Stronger Than A 20-Mil Liner?

No, a thicker liner doesn't necessarily give you more strength. In fact, extra thickness often brings more problems than benefits. An unreinforced liner (like 45 mil EPDM) relies on purely on its mass for protection.

Reinforced liners, like RPE (Reinforced Polyethylene) have a high-strenth internal scrim that makes it extremely durable and puncture resistant. In fact, RPE is twice as strong as a rubber liner of the same thickness.
