EPDM is exceptionally flexible, which makes it one of the most popular pond liners on the market. Natural ponds or those with irregular profiles are particularly suited to EPDM because its flexibility allows it to conform to folds and shapes so easily. EPDM can stretch and easily return to its original form without damage, but even EPDM pond liners should always be installed without any stretched portions.
EPDM pond liners require a non-woven geotextile underlayment to protect the liner from punctures over the lifetime of the liner, which should be multiple decades. If damage does occur, EPDM is relatively simple to repair with adhesive patches, although the area needs to be dry, which can cause headaches in an active pond!
