Is EPDM good?

EPDM pond liners are one of the easiest and cheapest ways to build a reliable, long-lasting pond. EPDM is flexible, tough and built to last many years when properly installed and maintained. While EPDM can tolerate exposure to sunlight and the effects of weathering (including exposure to air), it's a good practice to protect as much of the liner as possible by burying it under several inches of soil, rounded river rocks, or sand. This covering layer will also protect the liner from wear and tear associated with foot traffic, digging, or other disturbances.

EPDM is extremely flexible, which makes it easy to install even for ponds that are irregularly shaped. Still, it's important to protect your new liner by installing a good quality underlayment to separate the liner from the soil. This will help protect your liner from damage and punctures caused by protruding stones, roots, and other hazards from belowground.
