Is homesteading in the US still possible?

Yes! While the federal government may no longer be granting hundreds of acres of land, like they did in the early 20th century, there are still endless possibilities to apply the principles of homesteading in today's America. Homesteading involves self-sufficiency, minimizing consumption, living sustainably, and relying on yourself/your household. Modern homesteaders can do that today by growing their own food, making their own clothes, and saving/reusing their waste.

While large tracts of land are harder to come by, there are still lots of ways to homestead today. Backyard homesteading has exploded in popularity, and can even provide the option of raising some animals for their products.
