Buying several small liners and piecing them together may give you a better number at the bottom of your receipt, but ultimately that strategy is a false economy. Joining liner pieces together isn't a matter of holding the pieces in place and taping them together like giftwrap. It's exacting, time-consuming work.
Since seams are the most common source of leaks in any kind of pond, they must be either taped or heat-welded with precision over a multi-step process. Then, every inch of seam you add increases the risk of leaks developing over the life of the pond. Buying too-small liners and adding a dozen feet or more of taped seams may save you a hundred dollars today, but the cost of repairs can quickly exceed that.
