Geomembrane materials are commonly used as barriers in the final closure of waste rock, tailings and other potentially impacted mine waste materials. These final closures typically consist of a drainage layer and a vegetative layer overlying the geomembrane.
The most suitable geomembranes for reclamation and closure are highly flexible and can resist hazardous chemicals and withstand conditions in the exposed environment such as ultraviolet light exposure, wind damage and snow loads.
