No growth system is perfect, and aeroponics is no exception. High initial setup costs, vulnerability to power outages, and a high level of technical knowledge is needed to successfully operate a full-scale commercial operation. Home hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts, however, can mitigate at least the first and last issues by going with a small-scale, simplified system.
Aeroponics systems are carefully tuned, to provide an optimal growing environment for plants, and the ideal parameters need to be carefully monitored if production is your focus. pH levels and nutrient solution levels frequently require adjustments. Commercial and long-growth projects are really only suitable to the more expensive high pressure aeroponics systems, and the misters are particularly vulnerable to locations with hard water or heavy scale.
