There are many kinds of canal liners available, each being suited to different specific needs. Concrete liners are very rigid and durable, often being seen in large, permanent, or high-traffic canals. They offer strong protection against seepage but can crack over time due to temperature fluctuations or ground movement.
Compacted clay liners are a more natural option, commonly used in agricultural irrigation canals. They provide good impermeability but degrade over time or require frequent maintenance. Geomembrane liners, made from synthetic materials like RPE, are flexible and resistant to chemicals and UV degradation. These liners are lightweight, easy to install, and ideal for irregularly shaped canals or areas with unstable soils.
