What are the important parts of an aeroponics system?

There are five basic components of an aeroponics system: the reservoir, a repeat cycle timer, the water/nutrient pump, misting nozzles, and growing collars or net cups. The reservoir is a closed container with holes cut in the cover where plants are suspended using a foam collar or net cup. Only the roots reach into the reservoir; the leafy part of the plant remains on top.

The repeat cycle timer manages the periodic misting which is applied to the roots. The cycles may be as short as 15 seconds every 5 minutes, so it's important that your timer is designed for repeat cycles. The water and nutrient pump produces the mist that is applied to the roots. Smaller droplets are better, so high pressure pumps, though pricie, produce better results overall. Misting nozzles produce the tiny droplets that are easily absorb by roots. Again, very fine droplets produce the best results.
