A reinforcing scrim is a woven grid of high strength yarns that provides powerful strength, puncture resistance, and dimensional stability. In reinforced polyethylene liners, an HDPE scrim is coated on both sides with a layer of LDPE.
The scrim gives RPE the same strength as unreinforced materials (like EPDM, HDPE, or PVC) at only half the thickness, and at 1/3 the weight. RPE is just as powerful but it's easier to ship, easier to handle, and easier to install.
