What industries use evaporation ponds. And why?

The primary industrial users of evaporation ponds include solar power plants, other power plants, agriculture and food processing operations, oil and gas industries, concrete producers, chemical processing plants, and landfill and composting users. Because, in general, evaporation ponds represent a cost-effective method of isolating and disposing of unwanted particulate and require minimal maintenance, they can be adapted for a wide range of applications.

In its simplest application, wastewater evaporation leaves behind the waste contents that are contained by the water. The retained waste is typically substantially less than what can be disposed of through other methods. When the water is evaporated, is it also possible to isolate usable by-products from disposable waste. Wastewater evaporation ponds are advantageous for industrial users that may have difficulty staying under the authorized discharge limits of sewage facilities, or for those rural industries that have no sewer availability. They are also helpful for industries in areas with high water costs.
