What is a silage cover?

A silage cover is used to seal and protect silage from initial packing to final presentation to livestock as feed. Silage covers maintain moisture content in the ensiled material and help maintain an anaerobic environment.

Silage covers should form an airtight seal over the ensiled material. They're typically made of plastic or other impermeable material and are carefully weighed down to eliminate air spaces.
