What is PVC used for and why?

PVC is an extremely versatile material, cheap and flexible. It's found in footwear, medical equipment, cable installation, and more. Rigid PVC is often found flooring, roofing, siding, and more. Rigid PVC is also known as un-plasticized PVC, meaning it hasn't been made more flexible or durable through the addition of plasticizers.

Flexible PVC, or fPVC, is found everywhere when it comes to medical tubing, inflatables, and clothing. PVC is made more flexible through the addition of plasticizers.
