What is subsistence agriculture?

Subsistence agriculture is focused on providing enough food for one family to survive on, rather than producing a mass excess for sale. Between 15 and 20 plants per year is reccomended for each member of your family you intend to feed. This will depend on how much of the produce you intend to use, and how large each plant's yield is.

Since a homestead is focused on self-sufficiency, subsistence agriculture is very often utilized. Rather than having to make weekly trips to the grocery store, a short trip into the backyard can give you all the materials you need for a gorgeous, organic meal.
