Scrim-reinforced RPE liners are often the best choice for manure lagoon protection during winter because they combine strength, flexibility, and resistance to cold temperatures. Unlike some rigid materials that can become brittle, RPE remains pliable in freezing conditions, allowing it to move with the ground during freeze–thaw cycles without cracking.
RPE's high puncture resistance helps protect it from damage arising from ice formation, shifting soil, and debris that may press against the lagoon walls. RPE's low permeability ensures that nutrients stay contained through the entire winter, reducing the risk of leaks that might go unnoticed beneath snow or ice.
