Geomembranes vary in thickness, depending on how and where they're being used: 60 mil is the most commonly found thickness in industry geomembranes. BTL's liners range from 20 to 60 mils in width, depending on their particular application. While thickness can add to a liner's strength and durability, it is not the only factor. Woven, bonded polymers can maintain their strength and impermeability without the extra width.
Extremely thick geomembranes will need to be transported and installed using heavy machinery, due to the weight and general unwieldiness found in the large, heavy rolls of liner material.
