Different kinds of geomembranes are best suited for different applications; a highly chemical and abrasive environment will need a heavier and more durable geomembrane, like BTL's ArmorPro. Other environments aren't quite as demanding: in many applications, a variety of reinforced geomembranes can prevent seepage and control water flow. For projects that intend on supporting aquatic life, it's essential to find a liner that is fish-safe. This is even more essential when it comes to anything that is going to be consumed by humans. Materials that are safe for potable water, or water that will be consumed by humans, are certified as NSF-61, the highest rating possible when it comes to water safety. You'll want to choose your geomembrane by first considering your needs. How long does your liner need to last? Does it need to be able to withstand sunlight? What chemicals will it be exposed to? Will it need to bend or stretch?
