Supply chain disruptions have exacerbated issues that were already in place from climate change and strained industries. The pandemic spikes cause people to mass buy as well, leaving the rest of the population to search in several different stores for their usual household staples. Our country also relies on international supply of goods to stock shelves. With the state of the world and their own issues with climate change, Covid and war, these are becoming a lot less reliable sources.
Grocery store shelves are empty for a lot of reasons that are apparent in our country and the world. The effect of climate change has hurt farmers crops because of unpredictable weather, drought, devastating floods and more. The demand is becoming higher than the output, and with no immediate change in sight, it is easy to see why the shelves are becoming less stocked in our grocery stores.
