Plants may be failing to thrive in a winter greenhouse for several reasons, including: temperature fluctuations, inadequate light, or improper humidity levels. Cold weather greenhouses can experience temperature extremes, especially during the night, which can stress plants if they are not properly insulated or heated. Insufficient light, especially during the winter months, can also hinder plant growth; even though the greenhouse traps sunlight, shorter days and cloudy weather may not provide enough light for some plants.
Poor ventilation can lead to excess humidity, which may cause mold or mildew to develop, affecting plant health. If the greenhouse isn’t sealed properly or if there is too much airflow, drafts can weaken plants and cause inconsistent temperatures. Another possible issue is overwatering or underwatering, as colder conditions require adjustments in watering schedules.
