Knowledgebase
Welcome to the BTL Knowledgebase. Ever since we started lining ponds, creating covers, and helping people with their projects, we've gotten asked a lot of questions. Many of these questions are repeatedly asked, so we put together the BTL knowledgebase to help answer any questions you had about a particular subject. We are adding new questions every month, so continue to check back often!

What's an EPDM liner?
What is HDPE best for?
What's a PVC liner?
What's an HDPE liner?
What is the strongest pond liner?
HDPE is the heaviest form of pond liner, and also the most chemical and damage resistant.
Is HDPE harmful
HDPE is toxin-free, and won't leak out chemicals like some of it's relatives, this makes it safe for food and water meant for human consumption.
Is HDPE plastic good?
HDPE is a singular polymer plastic, meaning that it's lower cost than EPDM, and easier to recycle.
Why is HDPE a suitable plastic?
HDPE is incredibly durable and resistant to tears; its seams are heat welded, making it one of the most effectively and permanently sealed liners available.
Is HDPE recyclable?
Since HDPE is made up of a singular polymer, it is much easier to recycle than a multiple polymer plastic.
Is HDPE plastic biodegradable?
No, HDPE is built to last, and can withstand hundred years of biodegradation without fully degrading.
Is PVC a plastic?
PVC is an extremely common kind of plastic that's used almost everywhere.
Is hdpe stronger than PVC?
HDPE is much more durable than PVC, resistant to tears and to UV damage, unlike vinyl.
Is PVC liner safe for fish?
PVC may leach toxins like cadmium or lead, which can be very harmful if consumed by fish.
Is pvc pond liner food safe?
PVC functioning properly is food safe, however, degradation can cause the liner to begin leaching harmful chemicals, like plasticizers.
what is HDPE liner made of?
HDPE stands for High Density Polyethylene is a highly durable and versatile kind of plastic.
Is HDPE hard or soft plastic?
HDPE is a solid, strong plastic that is used in many various building applications, it can come in either hard or soft varieties.
Is HDPE BPA free?
HDPE plastics are completely free from BPA and therefore safe for human-use applications.
What's the difference between plastic and PVC?
PVC is much stronger and more durable than typical plastic, and more resistant to chemicals and other abrasive materials.
Does EPDM offgas?
EPDM is especially resistant to all kinds of degradation, including heat, moisture, and elemental exposure.
