BTL Liners Proudly Joins the American Pistachio Growers

BTL is proud to announce that we recently joined the American Pistachio Growers. BTL has provided liners for pistachio growers for many years and we’re happy to officially be a member of their biggest trade association of pistachio growers, processors and industry partners. Headquartered in Fresno, California, the American Pistachio Growers are governed by an 18-member Board of Directors. The association conducts pistachio nutrition research, monitors government affairs, does product development and market development.

Liners and Pistachios

How do liners and pistachios correlate? Pistachios are grown on trees. Once the nuts are ripe the trees are shaken to free the nuts from the trees. Large nets are spread under the trees to capture the nut. In order to maintain high quality nuts, the epicart is removed within 24 hours after the nut comes off of the tree. After the epicart is removed the nuts are rinsed in cold, clean water. Approximately 20% of the nuts don’t contain meat and these blanks float in the water and are removed and discarded. The pistachios are then soaked in a saturated brine solution before sun drying for about three to four days. RPE and RPP liners are used in the rinsing and soaking process when harvesting pistachios. The American Pistachio Growers recognize the importance of using reinforced liners that are puncture resistant and are safe for potable human drinking water. Because of the importance placed on quality and the severity of preserving and conserving water in California, Arizona and Utah, the partnership between BTL Liners and the American Pistachio Growers makes perfect sense.
